This past Saturday we had Gavin's 1st birthday party and boy was it a success. I could not be any happier with how his party went, we had a house full of people and when I say full I mean 52 people (Jim has a big family). I could definitely feel the love!!! Thank you to all the family and friends that were able to come out and make this day even that much more special. We truly feel blessed to have so many loving people in our lives.
I don't quite think Gavin knew that all these people were there for him but it seemed to me that he had a great day. I could barely keep track of where he was but I knew that he was always in great hands and having a blast. We had lunch then opened presents then it was on to the cake. Gavin didn't quite share my 'joy' in opening presents so he was there for about one maybe two present openings then it was left up to me. At one point Jim's uncle Kevin asked me whose birthday it was anyway... yea Gavin whose birthday was it??? I was really impressed with Gavin's cake flinging abilities. I wasn't quite sure how he would do with the cake but once he figured out that it was for him to play with, he dug in. I have a video of him and his cake so I'll download that for you all tonight but for now I have attached some pictures of the gift opening and Gavin's personal cake. As I get more pictures I will attach them as well. Jim and I were so busy ourselves that we didn't get to take many pictures but I am hoping that I get some sent down from the people who were there.
Oh, I almost forgot. Jim's dad figured out that the large tree in our backyard is a Pecan tree and it has dropped it's nuts and was ready for picking... who knew!!! I think the older party goers found the picking of the nuts the highlight of the party. I wonder what our neighbors were thinking... ha.
Thanks to all that were there, you made it a very special day!!!
