So, ever since Gavin has been mobile we new that he wasn't afraid of anything and that he would have many bumps and bruises along the way. Well, the bumps and bruises are the easy part but what he did this weekend wasn't. This past Saturday he decided that it would be fun to leap like Superman off the couch, what he was going for I don't know. Well, what he didn't realize is that he doesn't quite land like a cat yet so he fell face first into the coffee table. Even though we now have a leather padded coffee table that didn't prevent a trip to the Emergency Room. Oh my gosh, was I ever shaking with fear of it being bad. The way he hit the table he must have bit his lip at the same time so when I scooped him up off the floor his lip started gushing blood and I yelled "call my mom". I don't know what she was going to do but the fact that she's a nurse always reassures me. She suggested exactly what we were thinking so off to the ER we went. By the time we got to the hospital his lip had already clotted so the bleeding was pretty much over but now we just had to wait for the doctor to look at the damage and access whether or not stitches were in order. After the two hour wait it was decided that since one of the gashes was on the top of his lip that it would be hard to keep stitches in since Gavin wouldn't know any better than to pick at it thus making matters worse. It was decided to just let it naturally heal. I must say that Gavin is a real trooper because he was done crying once the bleeding stopped and he was even sticking his hands in his mouth and being his normal self. It was a scary moment but I'm so glad it ended quite well. Here are some pictures of his super wounds.

Oh my....we are waiting for our first trip to the ER like this. Chase slipped in the kitchen just last night and nailed his head (enough to cry, which doesn't happen to often!). Hope Gavin is doing better!
