Visiting a friend

Gavin and I got out of town this weekend and visited a friend of mine in Kansas City to see her and her husbands new house. We left dad at home to paint the garage floor, which turned out really good. We got up bright and early Saturday filled our bellies then hit the road. Gavin was pretty ansey and needed lots of entertaining on the ride, which is understandable since it was about a 3 hours drive and he was barely out of bed when we left. It was kind of hard to keep him entertained while trying to drive but we sang songs, he read books, played with cars and ate/played with his food. I gave him a container of Teddy Grahams and looked back to find that he was sticking them between his toes then he would eat them... gross I know, but he had a bath the night before so at least I knew those feet were clean. We went to a playhouse called Fun Run in which they have a toddler area with a bounce house. At first he was kind of scared and wanted out but I got in there with him and helped him down the slide then he realized it was fun and ran around that thing like crazy... it was so cute because he would take of running then lose his balance and sideways run into a wall or something... at least it was all padded so he had a blast. Every now and then other kids would wonder in and gave him some interaction but he did really well playing on his own too. We visited a couple Halloween stores but at that point he was done with cooperating so that didn't last long then we went back to her house for some outside time with the dogs and dinner then we headed home. We got home around 10:00 p.m. and boy did it feel like I wasn't ever going to get there... it was a lot of driving in one day but it was nice to see Tara and get out of the house and do something different.
